Join us for Eight (8) Spanish Fun Program classes hosted at the Somerville Y!  All classes are free and open to any Somerville Community Families! No Y membership required!  Registration is required in order to attend and families should commit to attending all eight (8) classes for the complete experience.  All classes will build you and your child’s knowledge and comfort in speaking Spanish and learning about the many varied cultures within Latin America.  Get ready for a blast of fun with our programs for babies to kids. These 45 minutes sessions are bursting with stories, music, dance, parachute games, crafts, puppets, and engaging activities. It’s the perfect introduction to Spanish where little ones learn while having fun!  

Instructor: Esther Gomez is a passionate entrepreneur from Mexico and the founder and director of the Spanish Fun Program. With over 20 years of experience teaching students from infancy to seniority in Massachusetts, Esther creates fun and engaging programs rich in culture, music, dance, and traditional cuisine. Her unique teaching style effortlessly immerses and captivates her audience. In addition to her core classes, Esther leads an Immersive Storytelling Program in which the audience participates from the beginning to the end. By combining vivid visuals with music and movement, she ensures each story is a fully experienced event that captures the attention of audiences of all ages.

  • Pequeños pasos – Little Steps
    Target Audience: Grown-ups and a baby/toddler
    Schedule: Sundays, 9:15–10:00 AM
    Location: 2nd floor Wadleigh Room, Youth Program space at the Y
    Note: A parent or guardian must be present.

We invite you and your little ones to join us for “Pequeños pasos – Little Steps,” a special bonding experience designed for early learners. Our sessions feature gentle stories in Spanish, songs, soft scarves, and engaging activities. With a fun parachute, small instruments, playful movement, and delightful puppets, every class becomes a joyful celebration of learning turning every session into a fiesta of giggles and wiggles. Our immersive storytelling sessions include favorites like “Kathy the Caterpillar” and “The Crocodile and His Friends.” We look forward to creating wonderful memories while sparking a love for language and music together.

 

  •  “Pequeños Exploradores – Little Explorers”
    Target Audience: For kids 4-6 year olds* (Pre-K-1st grades)
    Schedule: Sundays, 2:00 – 2:45 PM
    Location: 2nd floor Wadleigh Room, Youth Program space at the Y
    Note: A parent or guardian must be present.

Get ready to dive into Spanish with your kid by your side! In this fun-filled class parents join the fun as we learn through music, songs, instruments, colorful scarves, parachute games, and engaging activities. Our immersive stories like Kathy the Caterpillar, Blow, Blowfish, and The Crocodile and his Friends will have everyone moving, laughing, and speaking Spanish. In this class, students will pretend they’re in different settings—like being customers or servers in a restaurant, or doctors and patients in a hospital—using toys and props. These playful scenarios will help them naturally speak Spanish while having a great time! Get ready to speak, play, and explore!  This class is very active and energetic. Let’s make language learning a party!

 
  • “Amigos Divertidos – Fun Friends”
    Target Audience: For kids 7-10 years old (2-5th grade)
    Schedule: Sundays, 3:00 – 3:45 PM
    Location: 2nd floor Wadleigh Room, Youth Program space at the Y
    Note:  A Parent should remain on-site at the Y if needed.

In this dynamic Spanish class language learning is an adventure. With parachute fun, arts and crafts, colorful visuals, music, and fun games, every class is full of laughter. We’ll dive into immersive storytelling The Magic Journey of the Axolotl and Loteria. Plus, we’ll role-play as if we’re in markets, hospitals, or restaurants with toy money and props. Get ready to speak, play, and explore!  This class is very active and energetic. In Amigos Divertidos, the best part is that you’ll play, make friends, share moments, and laugh together. It’s all about Spanish with fun and friendship!
