Do you accept reciprocity?
The Somerville Y participates in the Reciprocity program. This means we allow members from other Y’s to use our General Membership (you must show Y id and a picture ID). According to Reciprocity, you must use your home Y fifty per cent (50%) of the time. Also, please note each Y is different, so we recommend calling ahead to the Y you are hoping to visit to confirm their policies.
Can I bring a guest?
Guests may visit by purchasing a daily pass.
Daily passes
We offer Adult Day Passes for $15.00 which would give you access to our General Membership. If you decide to join, we would credit you the $15.00 toward your membership.
What is included in membership?
We offer a General Membership of $44/month ($35/ month for 18-26). We also offer a family rate of $66/month (any 2 adults over 18).
This membership includes our pool, treadmills, elliptical, free weights, steam room, indoor track and most classes with reduced rates on others.
We also offer a more private Health Center Membership (men only room or women only room) for $54/month. This membership allows access to everything in our General Membership plus access to our more private area and includes an assigned private locker, however there is no family rate for this membership.
If you would like a tour, you can visit the Front Desk Monday –Friday 8:30am to 8:00pm or Saturday between 9:00 am -1:00 pm.
Do you have babysitting?
We do not offer babysitting at this location.
Do you offer financial assistance?
We offer scholarships to residents of Somerville based on income. Scholarship Applications may be found on our website or at our Front Desk. Application must be submitted with copies of income verification.
Is there a Joining fee?
At this time, we do not have any joining or cancellation fees.
Do I sign a contract?
If you decide to pay monthly for your membership, you will be asked to complete a Draft Authorization Form. This allows us to withdraw monthly fees from your account.
How do I Cancel my membership?
We require a thirty (30) day written notice along with the return of your Y scan card. Membership Cancellation
Is parking available?
Parking for members is available on either side of the building.
How long is the pool?
Our pool is twenty (20) yards and three (3) lanes wide.
Do you have rooms for rent?
We have male dormitory rooms (permanent residency). Resident would have their own room and share kitchen and bathroom areas. Weekly rate is one hundred fifteen dollars ($115.00) per week and one hundred sixteen dollars ($116.00) per week if resident has a vehicle.
Resident Applications may be found on our website, as well as at our Front Desk. Once application is received, it is kept on file for thirty (30) days.
What is the pool temperature?
Between 83-84 degrees
How old do children need to be for membership?
We offer youth memberships for ages six (6) to thirteen (13) for sixty-five dollars ($65.00) per year. This membership includes free swim lessons (if available at time of registration) and reduced rates on Saturday Youth Programs.
We also offer High School Membership for ages fourteen (14) to seventeen (17) for eighty dollars ($80.00) per year. High School Member hours are currently:

How do I reserve space in the pool?
Our pool is now set up for three lanes with no more than two (2) people per lane at a time. Reservations must be made for the pool. Reservations are 30 minutes each and may be made by calling the front desk or by using our website or app under “SCHEDULES” section and then clicking “RESERVE SPACE”. The computer in the lobby can be used to make a lap swim reservation. A maximum of one hour is allowed per swimmer.
Do we offer military discounts?
Yes, applicant for military discount must complete an application packet. Applicant must then submit their application via email to corresponding approving official (MCAO). Once the Y has been shown proof of email, applicant will be given one (1) month membership while approval is pending.
DOD Armed Services will notify Y of approval or denial in the interim.
Do you offer membership through Renew Active by United Healthcare?
We participate in the Renew Active Program by United Healthcare available with select United Healthcare Medicare plans.
Please call the customer service number on the back of your health insurance card in order to get a confirmation code. We will then use the code to set up your General Membership.
Which holidays are we open/closed?
We are closed on New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day.
